COSMETIC DENTISTRY: GIVE YOUR TEETH A MAKEOVER

Cosmetic dentistry refers to dental procedures that improve the appearance of teeth and gums. These procedures are used to make the teeth white, aligned and in perfect shape in order to give you a beautiful smile. If your teeth are stained, worn, discolored, misshapen, chipped, broken, misaligned, or have gaps between them, the modern cosmetic dentistry can correct all those problems.
Even though cosmetic dentistry is used only to make the teeth look beautiful, many people are now opting for these services in order to increase their confidence by improving the appearance of their teeth and smile and the way they present themselves to others. It is one of the fields in dentistry that is fast gaining popularity as the visual appearance of a person is also important part of being prominent in today’s society.
Here at Praveen Dental, we offer a variety of cosmetic procedures at affordable costs. We offer procedures such as Teeth Whitening, Dental Veneers, Composite Resin Restorations, Dental Crowns and Tooth Bridges, In-lays and On-lays.

1. Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the process of removing stains from the surface of the teeth and restoring the natural color. It involves bleaching the enamel of the teeth to make them lighter. It is done in one sitting and is the most common and widely adopted procedure. The enamel of the teeth can discolor or stain and become yellow.
There are many causes of tooth discoloration like frequent consumption of coffee, tea, wine, etc., smoking, chewing tobacco, fluorosis, damage or trauma when permanent teeth are growing and ageing. The process of Teeth Whitening clears the stain and makes your teeth look whiter. However, one should keep in mind that the results may vary from person to person.

2. Dental Veneers

Dental veneers also known as porcelain veneers are wafer-thin shells or coverings for the tooth that are custom made to perfectly fit and cover the front surface of the teeth to improve their appearance. They are permanently bonded to your teeth. This procedure is done when a person has chipped or broken teeth, when the teeth are discolored or when the front teeth are of different sizes and are misaligned. They are also used mostly to correct the appearance of the top front teeth that are the most visible when a person smiles and make them appear symmetrical and of the same size.

3. Composite Resin Restorations

Composites are tooth colored resins that are used to restore broken, chipped, decayed, discolored or fractured tooth. Unlike dental veneers which involves a careful process of construction of the laminates, these composite resin can be easily used in tooth bonding procedures. It can be completed in one visit and is the easiest and least expensive of the cosmetic dentistry procedures.

4. Dental Crowns and Tooth Bridges

Dental crowns and tooth bridges are permanent solutions to badly damaged or missing teeth. These are restorative procedures that use prosthetic or artificial materials to restore the teeth. A crown is used when the teeth are badly damaged or broken and bridges are used when there are one or more missing teeth (especially in cases where the permanent teeth have fallen).

A crown is a manufactured teeth that has the same texture, size and color of your existing teeth and is generally made of porcelain, ceramic or gold alloys. The existing weak, damaged, decayed and broken tooth is filed down and made smaller and the decay is removed and the crown is placed over the teeth like a cap and cemented into position.
A bridge replaces missing tooth and are usually made of porcelain fused to metal. A bridge consists of false teeth rigidly attached between two crowns. The teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for these crowns and the bridge is cemented into place. It looks and works just like natural teeth.

5. Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are indirect dental restorations that are made outside of your mouth in a laboratory. An inlay or onlay is typically used when a cavity is too large for a simple filling. They are recommended when there is tooth decay and when you want to preserve your natural tooth as much as possible.
